I went into the old stable at the weekend in search of a pair of gardening shoes and just look what I found. A robin’s nest – sadly deserted – built in the left shoe. There was one rather beautiful but very cold egg in it. It is incredible just how innovative they are in choosing their nesting sites but, on this occasion, I rather fear the smell of my left foot overcame poor old redbreast and he moved off to a more pleasant site.
Sorry for the radio silence over the past few weeks. No excuses other than the vegetable garden and watering that seems to take up all available times in the evening. I’ll be back to talk again very soon.
Happy gardening and don’t forget a hat and suncream in this incredibly hot sun.
